The Work We Take On

Most of the doors we get called out on sit in houses built between 1938 and 2000, with the bulk of that stock going up through the 1980s and 90s. That matters because a door from a 1982 build and a door from a 2019 build are not the same job - different spring sizing, different track mounts, different opener wiring half the time. We work on torsion and extension springs, openers, rollers, cables, and panel sections, and we replace full door and track assemblies when a repair doesn't make sense anymore.

Redding's summer heat is severe enough that it's the single biggest thing we see wear out hardware early. Nylon rollers dry-rot and crack, steel tracks expand and bind, and openers with aging capacitors start skipping or stalling in the hottest months. If your door has gotten noisy or sticky only since the heat set in, that's usually not a coincidence - it's the metal and plastic responding to the temperature swing, and it's a common enough pattern here that we check for it first.

One limitation worth saying plainly: we don't carry every obsolete part for doors from the 1930s through 1950s on the shelf. Some original hardware on the oldest houses in the area is special-order, and if a part has to come in, we'll tell you the wait up front rather than promise same-day on something we don't have.

Who You Are Dealing With

We're a garage door repair company based in Redding, working on the kind of doors that match the housing stock here - a lot of it from the 1980s and 90s, with plenty of older houses mixed in going back to 1938. We don't have a decades-long company history to point to, and we're not going to invent one. What we can tell you is what we work on and how we price a job once we've seen it.

Median household income across the service area sits around $95,978, and we try to give a straight repair-or-replace answer rather than defaulting to a full door swap when a spring or roller job will hold. Not every sticking door needs a new opener, and we'll say so.

If you want to talk through what's wrong with your door before committing to a truck roll, call (530) 239-0896. We'd rather spend five minutes on the phone narrowing it down than send someone out for a job that turns out to be a ten-dollar part.

Questions

Frequently asked

Straight answers about garage door repair in Redding. Still unsure? Ask us directly.

Do you work on older torsion springs or just newer doors?

Most of what we work on is torsion spring hardware from the 1980s and 90s building wave, which covers the bulk of the housing stock here. We also see older extension-spring setups on houses built before that. Either way, we carry parts for both and will tell you up front if a specific older part needs to be ordered rather than pulled off the truck.

Why do springs seem to fail so often here?

Redding runs a severe heat band through the summer, and sustained heat dries out the lubricant inside a torsion spring and makes rubber and nylon parts brittle faster than they'd wear in a milder climate. That's why we replace more springs and rollers here than cables or openers.

How far out do you go for a service call?

We cover the area from out through and the rest of the named neighborhoods, and farther out to places like Centerville, Shasta, Palo Cedro, and Anderson. If you're not sure whether you're in range, just call and tell us where you are.

Is it ever not worth repairing the door?

Yes. A door that's already had multiple repairs and is now forty-plus years old, or one with a cracked panel on an older model that can't be matched, usually makes more sense to replace than to keep patching. We'll say so plainly if that's what we find, rather than billing you for another repair on a door on its way out.
